Central Oklahoma Visits New Mexico State

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The University of Central Oklahoma tennis team is scheduled for three contests in as many days this weekend as the Bronchos travel southwest for non-conference play.

UCO will play New Mexico State Friday at 2 p.m. before making a quick trip south to El Paso, Texas to take on UTEP Saturday at noon. The Bronchos will then return to Las Cruces to finish their weekend plans with Western New Mexico on Sunday at 10 a.m.

Central Oklahoma is ranked 11th in the country and is 2-0 on the season as it heads to New Mexico. The Bronchos are led by second-ranked singles player Isabella Dunlap. The freshman is 10-4 overall this season, 0-1 in the spring season. She pairs up with Paola Landin in doubles. Rated the 11th-best doubles team in the country, they are 7-3 overall and 1-0 this spring. Landin is 2-0 in singles play.

UCO senior Kirtana Bhat is 2-0 this spring. The Tuscon, Ariz. native has over 100 career wins for the Bronchos.

Sarah Van Eeckhoudt and Nikki Boyar are the only 2-0 doubles team after two spring matches. Boyar is also 1-1 in singles play while Van Eeckhoudt is 0-2.

New Mexico State is 3-4 overall this spring. The team has a combined 15-20 record in singles play and a 9-7 mark in doubles matches. UTEP is 1-5 with an 11-20 singles record and a 7-7 overall doubles mark. Western New Mexico is 4-3 on the spring.

Central Oklahoma will continue a road-heavy 2019 schedule after this weekend. The Bronchos will play a pair of matches in San Angelo, Texas next weekend, taking on Angelo State and St. Edward's. UCO has two more road matchups after that before returning to Broncho Courts in mid-March for MIAA play.
