UCO Softball Breaks Into Top 20

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Feb. 20) -- A 13-1 start has enabled Central Oklahoma to make its debut in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II rankings, with the Bronchos coming in at No. 19 in the first regular season poll of the season that was released Wednesday.

UCO went 4-1 in the opening weekend of the season Feb. 1-3 and has won nine straight home games since then in getting off to the best 14-game start in school history. The Bronchos collected 128 points in voting of 16 Division II head coaches from around the country, with two representing each of the eight regions.

Central's next game will come against the new No. 1 team in the poll -- Angelo State (13-1), which moved up after being ranked sixth in the preseason. The two teams square off for a 3 p.m. doubleheader at Broncho Stadium on Feb. 26.
