Heath, McLeod Earn MIAA Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Feb. 20) -- Central Oklahoma's JoBi Heath and Sydney McLeod claimed Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association softball player of the week honors Wednesday, with Heath named co-Hitter of the Week and McLeod co-Pitcher of the Week.

Heath dominated at the plate in leading UCO to a 4-0 weekend at the Raising Cane's Softball Invitational, batting .636 with a 1.182 slugging percentage. The senior third baseman had seven hits in 11 at bats with six doubles and six runs batted in. She tied a single-game school record with three doubles in a 4-for-4 outing against Colorado-Colorado Springs.

Heath is batting a team-high .477 for the No. 19-ranked Bronchos, 13-1 on the season. She has nine doubles, two home runs and 17 RBI along with an .818 slugging percentage.

McLeod had another dominating weekend in the circle, going 2-0 with an 0.64 ERA last weekend to earn the MIAA award for the second straight week. The junior left-hander gave up nine hits and just one earned run in 11 innings while walking four and striking out six. She pitched a complete-game four-hitter in a 3-0 shutout of Newman and went the first four innings in a 7-3 win over Colorado-Colorado Springs.

McLeod is 6-1 on the season with a 1.34 ERA, having allowed just six earned runs in 31.1 innings.

UCO returns to action next Tuesday, Feb. 26, when it hosts top-ranked Angelo State for a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
