Bronchos Open Spring Season Monday

The Central Oklahoma women's golf team opens up the spring portion of its 2018-19 schedule this week with a trip to Austin, Texas for the St. Edward's Invitational.

It will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start both Monday and Tuesday in the 36-hole tournament at the Onion Creek Country Club. Joining the Bronchos and host Hilltoppers in the 15-team field will be Arkansas Tech, Hawaii-Hilo, St. Mary's, Arkansas-Fort Smith, Southwestern Oklahoma, Drury, Rogers State, Cameron, Angelo State, Texas A&M-Kingsville, UT-Tyler, Tarleton State and Lubbock Christian.

UCO had top-five finishes in four of five fall tournaments behind the fivesome of senior Makena Mucciaccio, junior Sydney Roberts, sophomore Yuna Sato and freshmen Madison O'Dell and Faith Stewart.

"It's been a little tough getting properly prepared with the weather we've had and that will be a challenge," said 11th-year head coach Michael Bond. "But the girls have been working hard and we're looking forward to getting started. It's a good tournament with a tough field."

Roberts led the Bronchos in the fall with a stellar 74.5 scoring average while placing in the top 20 in all five tournaments, including four in the top 15.

O'Dell had a 76.0 scoring standard in the fall with three top-20 placings, while Mucciaccio was at 76.8 with a pair of top-15 finishes. Stewart finished with a 77.8 average and Sato was at 79.9.
