Cross Country Inks Five Standouts

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma cross country team looks to expand the talent for the fall 2020 season with the signing of five athletes to national letters of intent in the early signing period.

Samantha Jasso, Melanie Jacquez, Katie McCathern, Harley Albert, and Charlotte Means all signed letters to compete at Central Oklahoma next fall, bolstering the Broncho lineup.

Jasso is a senior at Andrews High School in Andrews, Texas. She runs for coach Wade Floyd. Some of her accomplishments include two-time regional and state qualifier in the Texas 4A division. She clocked a 12:02 to pace an 11th-place finish at the state meet.

A pair of runners from Hereford High School in Hereford, Texas are coming to Central. They are coached by Jose Huerta. Jacquez has been to state the past two years qualifying in the 4A division. Her team placed third both years that she was a part of the accountable finishes. McCathern has paced alongside her teammate to have success at Hereford. She has qualified for regionals three times and has had two state-berths. She placed 26th at state as a senior.

Albert is out of Canyon-Randall High School in Canyon, Texas. She runs for Coach Rebekah James.
