UCO Finishes Fourth At Pitt State Event

PITTSBURG, Kan. - The University of Central Oklahoma track & field team made its return to competition Friday at the Rumble in the Jungle, hosted by Pittsburg State at the Robert Plaster Center, and the Bronchos got a handful of strong performances.

Savannah Reynolds had the best of the day, finishing first place in the high jump. Just a freshman, from Duncan, Okla., Reynolds launched over the 1.65-meter bar on her first try to seal her first collegiate victory.

The Bronchos got a second-place finish out of Maddie Brown. The senior from Jenks, Okla. made her season debut with a great run in the 3,000-meter race. Brown finished in 10:18.58, just 0.3 seconds behind the first-place finisher.

Also in field events, Madelyn Caldwell picked up a pair of third-place finishes. The junior from Pauls Valley, Okla. threw a 15.71-meter mark in the weight throw and a 12.47 meters in the shot put.

Chavon Reece added a pair of top-five finishes. The freshman from Norman, Okla. finished fourth in the long jump with a 5.47 meter mark. She also finished fourth in the 60-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 7.92 seconds.

Skylar Standokes gave UCO a seventh, top-five finish on the day. The sophomore from Duncan, Okla. finished the triple jump in fifth place, landing at 10.80 meters.

Central Oklahoma finished fourth in the event, scoring 52 team points on the day. The Bronchos will be back in action next weekend in Norman, Okla. with the UCO Open.
