Bronchos Head To Nebraska For Midwest Duals

No. 18-ranked Central Oklahoma goes back on the road this weekend when the Bronchos travel to Kearney, Neb. for Saturday's Midwest Duals.

UCO, 7-2 on the season, takes on Colorado Mesa (5-5) at 9 a.m. before going against Colorado School of Mines (8-1) at 10:30 a.m.  The Bronchos were also slated to meet Truman State, but the Bulldogs backed out of that dual earlier this week.

"It's a good chance for us to see a couple of teams we don't normally wrestle," said head coach Todd Steidley, who is 38-7 in his third year at the helm.  "We wrestled tired Wednesday (a 26-9 road win over Newman) and our guys need to find a way to fight through that.  We need to come out ready to go from the start Saturday."

Central owns a 3-1 series lead over Mesa, with that lone loss a 26-18 setback in the two teams' last meeting during the 2015-16 season.  The Bronchos are 1-1 against Colorado Mines and this is the first match-up between the two since the 1987-88 season.

Both those teams are coming off Thursday night road wins.  Mesa downed Chadron State 22-15, while the Orediggers knocked off No. 12 Fort Hays State 16-15.

Here's a look at UCO's lineup for Saturday:  125 - Noah McQuigg, So. (11-6) or Tanner Cole, RS Fr. (2-1); 133 - Rio Zamora, Jr. (12-10); 141 - Will Steltzlen, Sr. (5-1) or Nate Keim, RS Fr. (12-3); 149 - Brik Filippo, RS Fr. (16-4) or Ty Lucas, RS Fr. (9-2); 157 - Dayton Garrett, So. (11-8); 165 - Wyatt Jordan, Jr. (11-5 or Briar Stopp, Sr. (0-0); 174 - Devin Crawl, Jr. (5-7); 184 - Heath Gray, So. (22-1); 197 - Colton Looper, Sr. (16-6); Hvy - Greg Wilson, Sr. (1-0).

McQuigg, Gray and Looper all had major decisions in Central's win over Newman Wednesday, while Wilson had a 16-0 first-period technical fall in his first match of the season.
