Biography

Senior veteran ready to fill starting role at 141 pounds for the fifth straight season … Eager to finish career with a flourish after past disappointments and will be a top All-America contender … Has just missed qualifying for national tournament each of last three years after making it as a redshirt freshman … Hard-working grappler with grind-it-out style who knows how to win close matches … Owns 67-31 career record with 28 bonus-point wins … In his sixth year with the Bronchos, retaining a year of eligibility after the NCAA didn’t count the shortened 2020-21 season.

2021-22: Had winning streaks of nine and seven straight in putting together 23-6 record with 10 bonus wins … Had 10-1 mark in duals … Went 4-0 with two bonus victories in capturing season-opening Dan Harris Open title and had three bonus wins in runner-up showing at rugged Midwest Classic … Opened Super Regional IV Tournament with two first-period falls, then dropped tough 1-0 semifinal decision to nemesis Peter Kuster of Drury … Bounced back with 6-0 shutout before losing 4-2 in sudden victory to finish fourth and just miss qualifying for nationals.

2020-21: Went 6-3 with four bonus-point wins … Was 4-1 in duals with two technical falls and a major decision … Opened Super Regional IV Tournament with third-period fall, then lost in semifinals … Rebounded with tough 3-2 win before falling in the consolation finals to finish fourth.

2019-20: Started all season, finishing 20-14 with eight bonus-point wins … Bounced back from first-round loss in the Oklahoma City Open to win four straight in taking third and was fourth in the Lindenwood Open … Also took eighth in the rugged Midwest Classic and just missed national tournament berth with fourth-place finish in Super Regional IV Tournament … Won opening-round match at regionals, lost one-point decision in the quarterfinals and then rebounded with three straight consolation victories before falling in third-place bout that decided national qualifier.

2018-19: Fought off a senior veteran for starting berth and finishing 18-8 with six bonus-point wins … Won season-opening Oklahoma City Open and was runner-up at the Nebraska-Kearney Open in starting the season 8-1 … Advanced to nationals with runner-up finish in the Regional IV Tournament, dropping a 3-2 finals decision to No. 1-ranked Brandon Ball of Fort Hays State … Lost first match at nationals to eventual champion Jose Rodriguez of Notre Dame, then rebounded with two consolation wins before dropping tough 2-1 setback to Joey Alessandro of Pittsburgh-Johnstown in the All-America round.

2017-18: Had 9-4 record while competing as unattached entry in three open tournaments during redshirt year ... Went 5-0 in winning title at Nebraska-Kearney Open, starting that meet with two straight technical falls.

High School: Had sensational career at Collinsville High School, finishing with a 166-26 record … Four-time regional champion, four-time state placer and two-time state champion in helping lead the Cardinals to three team titles and one runner-up finish … Went 45-4 with 36 bonus-point wins as a senior in earning All-State honors … Also a baseball letterman.

Personal: Education major looking to become a coach … Father (Mike) was a two-time NCAA Division II national finalist for the Bronchos in the mid-1990s, winning a title in 1994-95, and is member of UCO Athletic Hall of Fame … Enjoys snowboarding as a hobby … Names J.
