Bronchos Finish Seventh at West Texas

CANYON, Texas - The University of Central Oklahoma track & field team earned a seventh place finish at the West Texas Classic Saturday behind seven different top-five performances by the Bronchos.

Abena Sey and Kaylee Jimboy started the event off on Friday with some solid outings in the women's heptathlon. Sey wrapped up a third-place showing on Saturday in the event after winning two of the seven events to earn 3,907 points. Jimboy finished seventh with 3,625 points.

Sey won both the 100-meter hurdles and the high jump Friday. She raced to a first-place finish in 15.85 seconds in the hurdles, Jimboy was second at 16 seconds. Sey, who has already hit an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the high jump this season, took first with a 1.65-meter jump Friday.

Sey also finished third in the javelin throw, fourth in the shot put, and fifth in both the long jump and the 800. Jimboy not only took second in the 100 hurdles, but also finished second in the 200.

In other action, UCO got a third place finish in the 5,000 meters by Audrey Campbell, who completed the race in 18:55.19. Amber Covin also took third in the pole vault, hitting a mark of 3.35 meters.

Maddie Brown took fourth in the 1500, finishing in 4:51.80. She was joined in the top ten by teammate Sheri Snyder, who finished in 4:59.73.

Madelyn Caldwell also earned a fourth-place finish in the shot put, throwing 13.22 meters. Caldwell also finished fifth in the discus with a 45.32-meter mark.

Skylar Standokes, who finished fourth in the long jump with a 5.56-meter jump, rounded out the Bronchos' top-five performers list.

Central Oklahoma returns to action next weekend with the KT Woodman Classic at Wichita State.
