LAWTON, Okla. – The University of Central Oklahoma women's basketball team will play its third game five days when the Bronchos travel south to take on Cameron in Aggie Gym at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Central Oklahoma is 2-0 on the young season. The Bronchos beat Northwestern Oklahoma State and East Central this past weekend in Tahlequah as part of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association – Great American Conference Crossover Challenge.

Cameron is 1-1 on the season, having beat Newman on Friday before falling to Oklahoma Christian Saturday as part of the Heartland/Lone Star Conference Challenge.

"We've been a slow starting team in our first two games," UCO head basketball coach Guy Hardaker said. "We need to come out a little better and get off to a good start. That'll be important. But we are doing well in figuring out who we are as a team and how a lot of our new pieces are going to fit and where they are going to fit. I'm looking forward to the next game so we can continue to grow and get better."

The Bronchos were led by Shatoya Bryson and Ireon Smith this weekend. The junior duo averaged a combined 24 points and 13 rebounds in the first two games. Bryson nearly had a triple-double in the season opener against NWOSU. The Oklahoma City native had 17 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists. Smith led the team with 16 points and eight rebounds in Saturday's contest.

Central Oklahoma shot 36.9 percent as a team on opening weekend. The Bronchos averaged 61.5 points per game while hitting 10 3-pointers and 31 free-throws in the two games.

The Aggies are led by Maighan Hedge. The 5-for-7 freshman from Melbourne, Australia had a game-high 27 points in her first collegiate contest against Newman. She scored 19 points in the loss to OC. Natalie Halbleib (12.5), Ava Battese (12.0), and Parfitt McNair (11.5) all average double figures after one weekend of play.

Cameron as a team averages 78 points per game and shoots 41.3 percent from the floor. CU hit 37.1 percent of its 3-pointers (26-for-70) this past weekend.

The Bronchos will make it four games in seven days on Thursday, when Central Oklahoma opens the doors to Hamilton Field House for the first time this season. UCO hosts Oklahoma Christian at 5:30 p.m.
