MARYVILLE, Mo. – The University of Central Oklahoma opened a three-game MIAA series with a 2-0 loss to Northwest Missouri State on Friday.

"It stinks when you get a great outing from a pitcher but you can't give him any run support," UCO head coach John Martin said. "We had a good chance to get a win today. We just have to try and be better tomorrow."

J.J. Rogers started for the Bronchos, and had a really solid start. He finished with eight innings, allowed five hits and two runs. Rogers also struck out six.

But the Bronchos only got four hits, and couldn't get any of their baserunners across the plate.

Korey Floyd, Dayne Sommer, Anthony Alvarez and Kyle Miskovsky each had one hit Friday. Floyd's double was the only extra base hit. He sat on third in the top of the ninth when the game ended.

The Bronchos are now 22-16-1 on the season and 12-15 in league play. Game two is Saturday at 2 p.m.
