Bronchos host Fort Hays State

The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team returns home Friday to host Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association foe Fort Hays State at 2 p.m. at Wendell Simmons Field.

The Bronchos will host Fort Hays State for a three-game series. Saturday's first pitch is set for 2 p.m., with a noon start time set for Sunday.

The Bronchos are 10-2 this season, and are 3-0 at home. UCO picked up two wins in its first three MIAA games of the 2017 season last weekend. And the Bronchos are coming off a 12-8 win over Oklahoma Christian in a non-conference matchup Wednesday.

Fort Hays State is 6-8 on the season, 1-3 in the league play, and comes to Edmond on a five-game losing streak.

Jake Dyer leads Central Oklahoma into this weekend's series having one of the hottest bats in the league. The junior is hitting .449 in 11 games this season. Dyer has scored 13 runs, has a team-high three doubles, and has 12 RBIs.

Jon Kamies continues to lead UCO as well. The senior has a team-high .463 batting average in 11 games played. Kamies also has three doubles on the season, three home runs too. And the All-American has a team-high 15 RBIs.

Holden Capps should start for the Bronchos in one game this season. Capps leads the Broncho pitching staff with 16 strikeouts. The lefty has thrown 17 innings and has a 3-0 record.
