Bronchos drop close match at Dallas Baptist

DALLAS – The University of Central Oklahoma women's tennis team dropped its second match in as many days Saturday, falling 5-4 to Dallas Baptist.

The Bronchos (3-2) ran in to the same trouble as Friday, when Central dropped all three doubles matches. UCO played two ranked teams in Texas this weekend, and came up short in both matches.

"I might sound like a broken record but you cannot afford to lose all three doubles matches," UCO head coach Jaron Maestas said. "That's happened to us twice now, and we've lost both matches. That's not a coincidence, you have to do better in doubles."

UCO was down 3-0 for the second time this weekend. Saturday, the Bronchos would battle back a little better in singles play.

Alli Hodges improved to 5-0 on the season with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Lacey Sprinkel. Kirtana Bhat also moved to 5-0 on the season, defeating Ana Banic 6-2, 6-2.

Shali Schoepflin fell shot at No. 3 singles, but Alix Williams and Emilie Semo picked up wins at No. 4 and No. 5. Jenny Bond lost at No. 6.

The Bronchos host Cowley County on Wednesday before a rugged, five-game road trip follows.
