EDMOND –
The University of Central Oklahoma women's basketball team makes its return to the hardwood Monday with a non-conference matchup with Cameron at Hamilton Field House at 7 p.m.

The Bronchos, ranked 23rd in the country, are 9-1 on the season. Central started 5-0 before its first loss, and has won four in a row since. Cameron comes to Edmond 4-6 on the season.

The teams meet Monday night with near identical numbers on offense in points per game. Cameron holds the edge, averaging 67.6, while the Bronchos score 66.6. The difference in the two teams is that Cameron gives up 76 points per game, while UCO allows just 57.

Central Oklahoma gets a bit of a boost knowing its playing in Hamilton. After opening the season with eight-straight road games, Central finally played a home game. It had one of its best games of the season, scoring 85 points in a rout of Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association foe Southwest Baptist. The Bronchos average 71 points per game at home, five over its season average, and expect to improve on that number Monday.

Melinda Murillo leads the Bronchos in scoring this season, averaging 14 points per game. The senior point guard last season led UCO to a win at Cameron by scoring a season-high 28 points. Her best outing this season is 32, in the first game of the year at Southeastern Oklahoma State.

Fellow UCO senior Jesheon Cooper is averaging 11.2 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game this season. She also has posted a double-double in 8 of 10 games this season. She has highs of 16 points (at Texas Woman's), 16 rebounds (at Oklahoma Christian), and six blocks (at Texas Woman's).

Blake Blessington is the third Broncho scoring in double figures per game this season. The junior guard is averaging just over 10 points per game (10.7). Blessington is second on the team in made 3-pointers with 13. She is also second in the MIAA in free-throw percentage, hitting 24 of 26 from the line this season.

Cameron gets most of its offense from Jamie Bonnarens, who scores 17.5 points per game. She is also second on the team on the board, pulling down 7.9 rebounds per game. Ava Battese is the only other Aggie averaging double figures. She scores 11.8 points per game. But Cameron does have four players scoring between 7.4 and 9.7 points per game.

Central Oklahoma has a quick turnaround on hand. The Bronchos play host to Southern Nazarene on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in Hamilton Field House.
