TAHLEQUAH – Central Oklahoma started slow but finished fast in a 66-50 win over Northeastern State Saturday in Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association play.

The Bronchos started the game unable to connect on many shots and found themselves in a 20-9 hole early in the first half. But a big run led to a 30-24 halftime lead. Northeastern State only made two field goals in the final 5:51 of the first half.

The Bronchos (11-6, 6-3) maintained that pace in the second half, handing Northeastern State the loss.

"That was a tough start," UCO head coach Tom Hankins said. "But you just have to settle down and don't panic. We knew we could work our way back into the game."

Jordan London hit three 3-pointers and led the Bronchos with 14 points. Jake Hammond added 13 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Josh Holliday also scored in double figures with 10.

The Bronchos went 7 of 14 from behind the arc Saturday, with London's three treys leading the way. Holliday hit two from deep, Marquis Johnson and Xavier Howard each hit one.

Johnson finished with seven points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists. Howard had eight, including 3 of 4 free throws.

Corbin Byford had nine points and six rebounds for the Bronchos in the middle. Hammond and Byford and Corey Alpough secured a tough Broncho defense that held Northeastern State just 32 percent from the floor.

Alpough led the charge, recording three blocked shots to tie a career-high. Hammond also blocked two shots on the night.

UCO plays at Pittsburg State on Thursday, Jan. 26, and at Missouri Southern on Saturday, Jan. 28 to finish up a four-game road trip.
