TAHLEQUAH - The University of Central Oklahoma women's soccer team lost 2-1 to Northeastern State on Friday in a non-conference game against their rival.

It's only the second time in 19 years that NSU has defeated the Bronchos.

UCO struck first on Friday. Courtney Essary got her first goal of the season after Cailtlin Moore found the junior midfielder on the left side of the field with a chance. Essary buried the score to put the Bronchos up 1-0 in the 16th minute.

But Northeastern would equalize just before halftime with a goal from Shelby Brewster in the 45th minute, just 30 seconds before the break. NSU added the game-winner in the 66th minute when Julia Mathis scored from inside the box.

Ally Salls played all 90 minutes in goal for the Bronchos. The sophomore had three saves on the night and has 25 now on the season.

The Bronchos (3-1-1) return home to face Southwest Baptist on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Tom Thompson Soccer Field at UCO. Sunday's game will also be a non-conference match against an MIAA foe.
