UCO Knocks Off Patriots

DALLAS, Texas (Feb. 12) -- Shali Schoepflin, Jenny Bond and Alix Williams picked up two wins apiece to lead Central Oklahoma to a 6-3 upset of No. 43-ranked Dallas Baptist here Friday.

The Bronchos of second-year head coach Cari Groce won two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead and then claimed four of the six singles bouts to complete the upset, improving to 4-2 on the year.

Schoepflin teamed with Kirtana Bhat for a tough 9-7 victory at No. 1 doubles before prevailing 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4 singles.  Bond and Williams earned UCO's first point of the match at No. 3 doubles, with Williams claiming a straight-set singles win and Bond pulling out a three-set triumph.

Alli Hodges had the other win for the Bronchos, taking a 6-3, 6-4 decision at No. 1 singles to clinch the dual.

UCO stays in Dallas for a neutral-site match against Arkansas-Fort Smith at noon Saturday.
