Streaking Bronchos On The Road Again

UCO BACK ON THE ROAD:  No. 13-ranked Central Oklahoma wraps up a five-match road-swing this weekend with a pair of Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association contests.
 
The Bronchos, 16-1 on the season and 5-0 in the league, go to Joplin, Mo. to take on Missouri Southern (1-15, 0-5) at 6 p.m. Friday before moving on to Bolivar, Mo. to face Southwest Baptist (3-12, 1-4) at 3 p.m. Saturday.
 
UCO takes a 10-match winning streak into the weekend and is atop the conference standings.  The Bronchos return home next Tuesday to host near-by rival Southern Nazarene in their final non-conference match of the regular season.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES:  UCO has a 17-7 lead in the rivalry with MSSU and has won the last five meetings.
 
The Bronchos own an 11-2 series advantage over SBU and has won the last two matches.
 
ABOUT THE BRONCHOS:  UCO has won 11 three-set sweeps and is 5-1 in four-set matches this year.  The Bronchos have won 49 of 57 sets so far.
 
UCO continues to lead the conference in hitting percentage at .292 and have three players in the top 10.  Freshman Jordan Spence is second at .358, junior Allison Barr third at .354 and freshman Taylor Bevis ninth at .317.
 
Senior Barbara Jackson has a team-high 206 kills for the Bronchos and is third in the MIAA in kills per set (3.89).  She has 1,330 career kills, needing 92 more to move into fifth place on UCO's all-time list.
 
Bevis (185), Barr (119) and Spence (119) also have at least 100 kills for the Bronchos.
 
Senior Whitney Gifford is averaging an MIAA-leading 5.54 digs per set with 316 on the season.
 
Junior Katy Davis has 649 assists, ranking second in the league with 11.39 a set.
 
Spencer has a team-high 60 blocks, which is fourth-best in the conference.
