EDMOND (Sept. 12) –
Defenders Quinn Tookey and Ashley McDaniel took advantage of rare scoring opportunities to knock in back-to-back goals during a stunning 30-second span and spark Central Oklahoma to a 3-1 triumph over Southwestern Oklahoma Friday afternoon at chilly Tom Thompson Field.

The Bronchos dominated throughout a scoreless first half and finally took the lead at the 54:11 mark on Tookey's chip-shot from close range off a rebound shot by Emily Hahn.

It took all of 26 seconds for UCO to make it 2-0 as the Bronchos quickly got the ball back and McDaniel was true on a shot from 25 feet away that sailed just over the goalkeeper's outstretched arms.

Lexi Carroll, who got the assist on McDaniel's goal, made it 3-0 on a penalty kick in the 69th minute and UCO coasted in from there.

"We came out and really took the attack to them in the first half," head coach Mike Cook said.  "We weren't able to convert, but I liked how aggressive we played and that finally paid off for us in the second half."

The Bronchos, now 2-1, are home again Sunday to host Upper Iowa at noon in their final non-conference game.

UCO outshot the Bulldogs 19-7, including 11-3 in the first half when Paige Matacchiera and Kimberly Linder both barely missed.

Tookey and McDaniel helped lead the defensive efforts along with Courtney Cox and Courtney EssaryBrandi Bartley went the distance in goal, making four saves.
