Bronchos Split In Arkansas

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (March 1) -- Central Oklahoma split a pair of matches here Saturday, falling to No. 34-ranked Arkansas Tech 8-1 in the morning before bouncing back with a neutral-site 9-0 rout of Ouachita Baptist in the afternoon.

The win over OBU was the 99th for eighth-year head coach Natalya Nikitina-Helvey, who will go for her 100th career victory Friday when the No. 42-rated Bronchos (5-2) open Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play at Emporia State.

"We played pretty well against Arkansas Tech, especially in singles, but they were just a little too much for us," Nikitina-Helvey said.  "It was good to end the trip on a win against Ouachita Baptist.  The team is determined to keep working hard and start our conference schedule off right."

Emilie Semo had the lone win for UCO against Golden Sun, pulling out a 3-6, 6-1, 10-8 victory at No. 5 singles.

The Bronchos completely dominated OBU in the afternoon shutout, dropping only four games in sweeping all nine matches.
