EDMOND (Feb. 21) –
Central Oklahoma continued a lengthy home winning streak with a 7-2 thumping of Cowley County (Kan.) Community College Friday afternoon.

It was the 15th straight home victory dating back to 2012 for the Bronchos, who improved to 3-0 in wrapping up a season-opening three-match homestand.

"We played well today considering the windy conditions," head coach Natalya Nikitina-Helvey said.  "We were undefeated at home last season and would like to be able to repeat that, so it is one of our team goals.  So far the girls have been doing good and taking pride in winning home matches."

UCO won two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead and then captured five of the six singles outs to polish off the rout.

Petra Pesic pulled out a tough 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 win at No. 1 singles, while Alina Gorina, Kristin Richardson, Anna Braun and Emilie Semo all won in straight sets.

Gorina and Semo rallied for an 8-4 triumph at No. 1 doubles, with the Bronchos also getting an 8-3 victory from Pesic and Lauren Allison at No. 3.

UCO hits the road for six straight matches before returning home March 11 to host Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association rival Northeastern State.
