OLATHE, Kan. (Nov. 7) –
Central Oklahoma took unbeaten and No. 8-ranked Central Missouri to the wire, but came up short in a tense shootout in the semifinals of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Post-season Tournament here Friday.

The two teams battled to a scoreless tie through 90 minutes of regulation and two 10-minute overtime periods at the College Boulevard Activities Complex before the Jennies prevailed 4-3 in the shootout.

In what goes down officially as a tie, UCM moved to 18-0-2 in advancing to Sunday's finals against the Fort Hays State-Southwest Baptist winner.  The Bronchos, 13-4-3, will find out Monday if they will receive an at-large berth into the NCAA Division II national tournament.

"That was a tough one," head coach Mike Cook said.  "We worked our tails off and played really well.  Now we just have to wait and see if we get in."

The Jennies controlled the first half before UCO came back to dominate the second 45 minutes, though neither team could put the ball in the net.  Two overtime periods didn't settle things, but the shootout did – eventually.

The Bronchos got scores from Kenzie Sublett and Sarah Purcell in taking a 2-1 lead, but UCM came back and led 3-2 going into the fifth and final shooter.  Emily Hahn came through for UCO with a clutch goal that tied it 3-3 and forced more extra play.

The Jennies scored with their sixth shooter to go up 4-3 and that held up as the winner when UCM's goalkeeper made a diving save on Tess Barnard's hard shot.

Brandi Bartley made seven saves for the Bronchos, including five in the first half.  UCO had 16 shots in the game, with Lexi Carroll taking four and Kate Foran three.
