UCO Opens Final Homestand Friday

Central Oklahoma wraps up the regular season with a pair of home games this weekend looking to nail down a top-four finish in the final Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association standings.

The Bronchos, 10-4-2 on the season and 7-3-2 in the league, host intrastate rival Northeastern State (7-9, 4-8) at 3 p.m. Friday before taking on Missouri Southern (5-9-2, 3-8-1) at 1 p.m. Sunday for Senior Day.

UCO is fourth in the conference standings with 23 points, trailing Central Missouri (36 points), Southwest Baptist (30) and Fort Hays State (26).  The Bronchos need one win to clinch fourth, which would earn them a home game for the first round of the MIAA Post-season Tournament next Wednesday.

The top eight teams advance to the league tourney, with the first four hosting the bottom four in first round games before the semifinals and finals are played in Olathe, Kan. Nov. 7-9.

UCO beat the RiverHawks 2-0 in this year's first meeting back on Sept. 19 and has a 15-2-1 lead in the series.  The Bronchos routed MSSU 4-0 just last week and leads that rivalry 6-0-1.

Coach Mike Cook's crew has allowed just 11 goals while recording 10 shutouts this season.

Thirteen players have combined for 29 goals for UCO, with junior Gabi Bochus (five), senior Emily Hahn (four) and freshman Lexi Carroll (four) leading the way.
