Box Score

PITTSBURG, Kan. (Oct. 14) –
Central Oklahoma rallied in all three sets to complete a sweep of Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association rival Pittsburg State here Tuesday night.

It was the fourth straight league win for the Bronchos, who prevailed 25-22, 25-22, 25-16 for their 14th sweep of the season in improving to 19-2 on the season and 9-2 in MIAA play.  UCO returns home Friday to host No. 7-ranked conference rival Nebraska-Kearney at 7 p.m.

"It was a battle, but we did a nice job of staying focused and came out with a good road win," head coach Edgar Miraku said.  "We had a great balance on offense and got contributions from a lot of players."

Barbara Jackson had a team-high 13 kills for the Bronchos to go with 12 digs and three service aces.  Allison Barr hit .467 with eight kills and Juliette Smith .412 with 10 kills and four blocks, while Sabetha Young added eight kills and Katy Davis 44 assists.

UCO trailed 4-1 and 6-2 in the first set before tying it at 6-6 behind a pair of Jackson aces and the Bronchos went ahead to stay at 11-10 on a Barr kill.

Mallory Fox had two aces during a 4-0 run that gave UCO a 13-9 lead in the second set, but the Gorillas came back to tie it at 15-all and went ahead 21-19 before the Bronchos closed with a 6-1 spurt to end it.  Barr and Jackson had kills and Fox another ace during that rally.

PSU jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the third set and was up 5-2 before UCO took control with a 9-1 run, getting two kills apiece from Jackson, Smith and Young en route to closing out the match.
