Bronchos Take On Washburn Thursday

UCO HITS THE ROAD:  Central Oklahoma opens a two-game Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association road swing Thursday when the Bronchos trek to Topeka, Kan. to tangle with Washburn.
 
Game-time at Lee Arena is 5:30 p.m.
 
UCO is 11-6 for the season and tied for seventh in the league standings at 5-4.  The Ichabods are 10-5 overall and fifth in the conference at 5-3.
 
The Bronchos go to Emporia, Kan. Saturday to take on MIAA leader and No. 2-ranked Emporia State at 1:30 p.m.
 
THE SERIES:  Washburn has a 5-2 lead in the series and won last year's meeting 62-58 in Edmond.  That was the first game between the two since a 65-64 UCO win in the second round of the 2011 NCAA Division II national tournament.
 
ABOUT THE BRONCHOS:  UCO is 2-3 on the road this season and dropped a 78-72 decision to Northwest Missouri in their last road outing on Jan. 4.  The Bronchos went 3-1 on their recent four-game homestand and is 6-2 at Hamilton Field House.
 
UCO has already surpassed last year's win totals for the season and the conference after going 9-17 overall and 2-16 in the league last year.
 
The Bronchos are averaging 69.8 points a game and have five players scoring eight-plus points per contest.
 
Senior Jill Bryan leads the way with a 13.9 average while adding 5.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists a game.  She's shooting 76.1 percent from the free throw line.
 
Sophomore Julia Mason is the only other double-digit scorer at 10.7 points to go with 5.6 rebounds an outing.
 
UCO also gets 9.5 points and 3.0 assists a game from senior Britney Morgan, 8.8 points and a team-high 6.6 rebounds from freshman Olivia Mason and 8.1 points from sophomore Haley Weathers.
 
Olivia Mason leads the team in both free throw percentage (80.0, 32-of-40) and 3-point percentage (36.8, 21-of-57).
 
MOVING UP THE LIST:  Seniors Jill Bryan and Britney Morgan have both moved into the top 20 on UCO's career chart.  Bryan ranks 19th with 862 points and Morgan is 20th with 841.
 
Morgan is also closing in on the top-five in both career 3-pointers and assists.  She has 134 treys and 281 assists, needing six 3-pointers for fifth place on that list and 25 assists for fifth there.
 
ABOUT THE ICHABODS:  Washburn is riding a three-game winning streak and is coming off a 70-60 win over Pittsburg State in its last outing.
 
The Ichabods are averaging 77.6 points a game and have three players in double figures – Casyn Buchman (18.3), Kara Lee (11.1) and Brittney Lynch (10.3).  Buchman leads the MIAA in free throw percentage (90.7) and Lynch is second in the conference in rebounding (8.7).
