EDMOND (Sept. 5) –
Emily Hahn scored two minutes into the second half to ignite a rapid-fire assault that carried No. 23-ranked Central Oklahoma to a season-opening 6-0 trouncing of Oklahoma Christian Thursday afternoon at Tom Thompson Field.

The Bronchos led just 1-0 at halftime before ripping off five goals in a 14-minute span to start the second half in making it 6-0 and coasted in from there. UCO outshot the Eagles 26-7, with Brandi Bartley and Emily Thornbrugh sharing time in goal to register the shutout.

"We were sluggish most of the first half, but finally got it going and did a nice job taking the attack to them," head coach Mike Cook said. "Our defense did a great job and it was a good way to open the season."

The Bronchos threatened a couple of times early and finally broke a scoreless deadlock with just over six minutes left in the half when junior Tess Bernard notched the first goal of her career off a pass from Sarah Purcell.

Hahn started the onslaught early in the second half when the junior transfer took a Paislee Hamilton feed and booted it in and junior Kate Foran made it 3-0 four minutes later with a goal off Ashley McDaniel's pass.

UCO needed just a minute to get on the scoreboard again, with freshman Kenna Dyess scoring off Nicole Voss' assist. Junior transfer goaled in the 60th minute on a pass from Jordan Hutchison and Voss completed the scoring 55 seconds later.

The Bronchos go on the road for their next two games, traveling to Liberty, Mo. Saturday to take on returning NCAA Division II playoff team William Jewell at 2 p.m. before moving on to Fayette, Iowa Monday to play Upper Iowa at 12 p.m.
