EDMOND (Sept. 12) – Central Oklahoma suffered a rare home setback Friday afternoon at Tom Thompson Field, falling to Dallas Baptist 2-1 in the opener of a two-game homestand.

It was the third straight loss for the Bronchos and ended a seven-game home unbeaten streak.  UCO, 1-3, returns Sunday to host Texas Woman's at 1 p.m.

DBU scored an early goal to take a quick 1-0 lead, but the Bronchos tied it in the 35th minute and it stayed deadlocked until the Patriots went ahead with 22:47 left to play.

"It's a disappointing loss, but we can't afford to hang our heads and get down on ourselves," UCO head coach Mike Cook said.  "We just need to keep working hard, find the right mix and we'll get things going."

DBU scored just 8:41 into the contest to go on top, with good defense by Quinn Tookey preventing another goal on a breakaway by the Patriots.

The Bronchos drew even at the 34:15 mark when Emily Hahn fought past a defender and sent a perfect pass to Sarah Purcell, who headed in her second goal of the season from five yards out.

UCO nearly broke the tie with just over 23 minutes left, but Kimberly Linder's shot from 10 yards away was blocked and the Patriots ended up on a breakaway that resulted in the winning goal just 20 seconds later.

Hahn was wide on a good shot with just over four minutes left on UCO's last good scoring opportunity.

DBU outshot the Bronchos 13-6 in the contest, with Brandi Bartley making five saves in goal for UCO.
