Bronchos End Regular Season With Road Win

DALLAS, Texas (April 12) – Central Oklahoma ended the regular season schedule on a high note here Friday, clipping non-conference rival Dallas Baptist 6-3 in a four-hour battle for its sixth straight win.
 
The Bronchos improved to 15-2 on the year and ended up 9-2 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, good for third place in the final standings.  UCO will travel to Springfield, Mo. for the MIAA Championships April 19-21.
 
“We really had to fight hard on all six courts today and I'm so happy that after such a long match we were able to prevail and finish our regular season with such a great win,” head coach Natalya Nikitina-Helvey said.  “It feels good to be able to succeed today with this young team and I think it will really help us going into next week.”
 
UCO won two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead and then finished off the match by taking four of the six singles bouts.
 
Petra Pesic and Alina Gorina teamed up for a tough 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles, while Laura Klingert and Ilga Racika-Racko had an easy 8-2 triumph at No. 3.
 
Pesic, Gorina, Klingert and Rose Cabato earned singles wins for the Bronchos.  Klingert steamrolled to a 6-0, 6-0 shellacking and Cabato also won in straight sets, while Gorina rallied for a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory and Pesic pulled out a 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 win.
