Box Score

EDMOND (Nov. 27) –
All five starters scored in double figures and Central Oklahoma led wire-to-wire in a 98-75 drubbing of Southwestern Oklahoma Wednesday night at Hamilton Field House.

Haley Weathers rattled in a 3-pointer from the top of the key 10 seconds into the game to give the Bronchos a lead they would never relinquish and UCO used the long ball to break the game open in the second half en route to ending a two-game losing streak.

"We did some good things defensively and shot the three really well," said head coach Guy Hardaker, whose team forced 29 turnovers while shooting 47.8 percent from long range.  "I thought we played with a lot of energy and got help from a lot of players in beating a good team."

The Bronchos made a season-high 11 treys in its season-best 98-point outing, hitting 7-of-10 from behind the arc in the second half to turn a six-point lead into the 23-point margin of victory.

Sisters Julia and Olivia Mason had 16 points apiece to lead UCO, with Olivia adding a team-high eight rebounds.  Jill Bryan had 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Weathers and Britney Morgan chipped in 12 points each.

Weathers' game-opening 3-pointer – one of four she made in the game – ignited a fast start that carried the Bronchos to a 12-2 lead just three minutes in.

Olivia Mason's short jumper had UCO up 14 (24-10) midway through the half and it was still a 14-point advantage (30-16) following Julia Mason's layup at the 8:12 mark, but the Bulldogs rallied to within six at 42-36 by intermission.

The margin was 10 (64-54) with 10:43 left to play when the Bronchos exploded, outscoring SWOSU 20-2 over the next five-plus minutes to stretch their lead to 28 (84-56) and end what little doubt remained in the outcome.

Six different players scored during that big run, with Weathers making two 3-pointers and Morgan one.

UCO, now 5-2 on the season, doesn't play again until opening Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play Dec. 5 at Lindenwood.
