EDMOND (Oct. 15) –
Allison Barr collected 14 kills in just 20 attacks to spark Central Oklahoma to a sweep of Southeastern Oklahoma Tuesday night at Hamilton Field House.

The Bronchos surpassed their win total of a year ago with the 25-19, 25-14, 25-19 triumph, improving to 14-5 with their second victory of the season over the Savage Storm.

Barr led the way as the freshman middle blocker dominated at the net with 14 kills and just two errors in hitting .600 for the match.  Barbara Jackson had eight kills, while Sabetha Young and Tyler Gromann added five apiece.

"We had a tough match with Southeastern at their place and it was important that we won the first set," head coach Edgar Miraku said.  "That momentum carried over to the second set and then we had a nice comeback in the third to finish it off.  It was a good win and we're looking forward to getting back to conference play this weekend."

UCO continues a five-match homestand and resume its Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association schedule Friday at 7 p.m. against Northwest Missouri.

The first set was a see-saw battle that saw 10 ties and four lead changes, with the Bronchos grabbing the lead for good on a Young kill that made it 12-11.  It was a 14-13 advantage when two Savage Storm errors and kills by Jackson and Barr made it 18-13 and UCO went on to close out the set.

There was no such drama in the second set as Jackson had three consecutive aces during an early 7-0 run that put the Bronchos ahead 9-1 and SOSU never got closer than five the rest of the way.

It was a different story in the third set as the Savage Storm jumped out to a 6-1 lead before Gromann's cross-court kill started a UCO rally.  The Bronchos drew even at 7-all on a Tate Hardaker ace, went ahead to stay on an SOSU error and made it 9-7 on another Gromann kill before steadily pulling away.
