Tough Win

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (March 9) – Elizabeta Abramovic, Rose Cabato and Anto Rossini picked up a pair of wins each to lead Central Oklahoma to a tough 5-4 victory over Arkansas Tech here Friday.

It was the second straight one-point win for the 42nd-ranked Bronchos, who evened their record at 4-4 despite playing without one starter (Sowmya Pulumati) who was out will illness.  UCO stays in town to take on Ouachita Baptist Saturday morning.

Cabato and Rossini teamed up for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles before both won their singles bouts, with Cabato won in straight sets while Rossini rallied for a three-set triumph in the deciding match.

Abramovic earned an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles with Julia Shviadok and then rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 rout at No. 2 singles.

"Arkansas Tech has a good team and it was a challenge today having a player out of lineup because it changes the dynamic of the team,” UCO coach Natalya Nikitina-Helvey said.   I am proud of Antonella, who stepped up and won the deciding match for us. It was a good win and we're hoping to complete the trip with another one tomorrow.”
