EDMOND (March 6) –
Three first-game home runs paved the way to a rout and a pair of second-game bombs provided just enough firepower as Central Oklahoma swept a doubleheader from Cameron Tuesday afternoon.

The Bronchos banged out 17 hits in rolling to a 14-6 run-rule romp in the opener, but managed just four hits in winning the nightcap 4-3 to extend their winning streak to 13 straight.

UCO, now 15-3 on the season and a perfect 7-0 at home, goes on the road to Pittsburg State and Missouri Southern this weekend for back-to-back doubleheaders.

Kacie Edwards, Kayce Rains and Brittany Weaver combined for 10 hits and 11 runs batted in while each hitting a homer in the first game that ended with UCO's third consecutive run-rule victory.

Edwards went 4-for-4 with four RBI, while Raines was 3-for-4 with four RBI and Weaver 3-for-4 with three RBI.  Devyn Frazier added two hits for the Bronchos.

UCO broke a 2-2 tie in the second on Raines' three-run homer to right field and Weaver blasted a two-run shot off the scoreboard in the third to give the Bronchos a 7-3 lead.

Edwards got in the act with a two-run dinger in the fourth to make it 9-3 and the Aggies pulled within 9-6 in the top of the sixth before UCO ended it with a five-run volley in its half of that inning.

Hannah Justus had a big blow with a two-run double and Raines ended the game on the eight-run rule with an RBI single.

UCO took a 1-0 lead in the second game when Kaylee Brunson led off with a single, stole second, advanced to third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch.

Cameron tied it in the third, but the Bronchos went in front to stay in their next at bat on Nathalie Timmermans' two-run homer.  Megan Whitmire led off the fourth with a solo shot to extend the lead to 4-1 and UCO held on the rest of the way.

Rachael Steverson went the distance in the circle to pick up the pitching win.
