Bronchos Earn Vegas Win

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Dec. 18) --
Central Oklahoma picked up its second straight win here late Tuesday night, edging Central Washington 86-84 on the first day of the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic.

The Bronchos shot a season-best 53.8 percent (28-of-52) from the field in the contest, including 43.8 percent (7-of-16) from 3-point range.  UCO also outrebounded the Wildcats 42-33.

Jamell Cormier led UCO with a game-high 17 points and was clutch from the foul line, making 11-of-12 free throws.  Josh Gibbs hit 5-of-8 shots in adding 14 points off the bench, while June Carter had 13 points, Josh Gibbs 11 and James Watson a game-best 10 rebounds along with nine points.

The Bronchos led 45-39 at halftime and stayed in front by hitting 14-of-25 shots (56.0 percent) in the final 20 minutes.

UCO, now 3-6 on the season, will take on defending national champion and No. 7-ranked Western Washington at 7 p.m. (Oklahoma time) Wednesday in the final game of the two-day classic.
