Bronchos Split Two Matches

PLANO, Texas (March 4) – Central Oklahoma split a pair of matches here Friday, dropping a tough 5-4 decision to Dallas Baptist in the morning before bouncing back with a 9-0 drubbing of Collin College.

The No. 21-ranked Bronchos, now 4-2 on the year, return Saturday to take on St. Edward's and Arkansas-Fort Smith.

“It's always disappointing to lose such a close, tough match,” UCO coach Natalya Nikitina-Helvey said. “We had a few opportunities to close it out, but we didn't capitalize on them. We learned from it and came out stronger in the afternoon.”

UCO trailed the Patriots 2-1 after the three doubles matches and the two teams split the six singles bouts, with DBU winning a pair of three-set battles.

Eli Abramovic won both her matches, teaming with Anto Rossini for an 8-3 doubles victory before claiming a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.

The Bronchos had no trouble with Collin, with Abramovic, Lacy Caldwell and Meredith Marney all pulling out three-set singles wins.
