Bronchos Roll Over Cowley

EDMOND (Feb. 25) -- No. 21-ranked Central Oklahoma tuned up for an upcoming showdown with a 7-2 romp past Cowley County Community College Friday afternoon.

The Bronchos lost one doubles match and one singles bout in rolling over CCC and improving to 4-1 on the season to set the stage for Sunday's noon battle with No. 6-ranked and defending Lone Star Conference champion Abilene Christian.

"It was really tough to play today in such cold weather, but I am proud of girls for staying strong and getting another win at home," UCO coach Natalya Nikitina-Helvey said.  "We played pretty well and we're looking forward to a big match Sunday."

Anto Rossini and Anna Kochigina each won a couple of matches to lead the Bronchos.

Rossini teamed up with Eli Abramovic for an 8-2 rout in doubles and then lost just one game in a straight-set singles sweep, while Kochigina joined forces with Rose Cabato for an 8-0 blanking in doubles before going on to win 6-3, 6-4 in singles.

UCO also got singles wins from Julia Shviadok, Lacy Caldwell and Meredith Marney, with Caldwell breezing to a 6-0, 6-0 rout at No. 3.
