EDMOND (Feb. 18) – Eli Abramovic, Anto Rossini and Anna Kochigina each picked up a pair of wins to lead unbeaten and No. 21-ranked Central Oklahoma past Arkansas Tech 7-2 Friday afternoon at the sun-baked UCO Courts.

The Bronchos improved to 3-0 on the young season, having outscored those three opponents 22-5. UCO wraps up a busy week Sunday, taking on Oklahoma Christian in a 4 p.m. match on the indoor courts at Oak Tree Country Club.

“It was a very good, competitive match and Arkansas Tech made us work for every point,” UCO coach Natalya Nikitina-Helvey said. “I was proud of my girls for stepping up in singles and playing with confidence and consistency.

“It's always great to get another win at home and this match should get us ready for Sunday when we face a strong Oklahoma Christian team.”

Abramovic teamed with Rossini for a tough 9-7 triumph at No. 2 doubles and then cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 romp in singles play, while Rossini also followed her doubles victory with a straight-set singles win. Kochigina picked up a couple of tough wins, winning 8-5 in doubles with Rose Cabato before prevailing 7-5, 6-4 in singles.

The Bronchos also got straight-set singles wins from Julia Shviadok and Lacy Caldwell.
