TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (Oct. 15) –
Goalkeeper Brandi Bartley made a pair of spectacular saves to highlight a Central Oklahoma defensive effort that gave the No. 24-ranked Bronchos their 10th consecutive win here Saturday night.

UCO blanked Northeastern State 1-0, scoring its seventh shutout – including the third straight – in the 10-game streak that has seen the Bronchos outscore their opponents 27-3.  UCO improved to 10-3 while dropping the RiverHawks to 9-3-1.

Bartley was the catalyst Saturday, with two acrobatic rejections among the three saves she had on the night.  The freshman has played all but a few minutes between the posts during the winning streak and has made 48 saves on the season.

Nawal Kirts had the lone goal for UCO, which finished with a 13-5 shot advantage on the night.

“It was a tough, physical game and I was proud of the way we battled tonight,” head coach Mike Cook said.  “We had some scoring opportunities that we didn't capitalize on, but our defense was really good and we got out of here with a great road win.”

The Bronchos broke on top early, with Kirts getting her first goal of the season at the 18:39 mark with a shot from the top of the box that was mishandled by NSU's keeper.  UCO had five other shots on goal, including four in the second half, but couldn't punch in another score.

Central plays its third straight road game Wednesday, traveling to Wichita Falls, Texas for a crucial regional showdown with Midwestern State at 6 p.m.
