EDMOND (April 9) -
Central Oklahoma took control early and went on to rout East Central 7-2 in Lone Star Conference tennis action Friday afternoon at the wind-blown UCO Courts.

The No. 24-ranked Bronchos won two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead and put the Tigers away by taking five of the six singles bouts.

UCO got straight-set singles victories from Lacy Caldwell, Anto Rossini, Rose Cabato and Meredith Marney, while Eli Abramovic rallied for a 2-6, 7-5, 10-6 triumph at No. 2.  Abramovic and Julia Shviadok teamed up for an 8-0 shutout at No. 2 doubles, with Rossini and Cabato claiming an 8-4 win at No. 3.

“I think  we played good and I am proud of my girls for stepping up today and dominating the singles to get another conference win," UCO coach Natalya Smith said.  "It's always good to see improvement, like Eli defeating a girl at the number two spot who she lost to at the conference Individual tournament last fall.

"We will practice hard the next couple days to get ready for our last conference match against Northeastern State.”

The Bronchos, who improved to 14-4 on the year and 4-2 in the league, go to Tahlequah Tuesday to take on the RiverHawks.
