EDMOND (Oct. 8) – Dominique Dinka scored with just 20 seconds remaining to lift Central Oklahoma to a much-needed 3-2 Lone Star Conference victory over East Central Friday afternoon at Tom Thompson Field.

Dinka's first goal of the season came off a pass from Summer Grantham and enabled the Bronchos to break a two-game league losing streak. UCO improved to 6-5 on the year and 2-2 in LSC play with the win.

“I knew the ball was going to be played through and I got an early jump on the defender,” Dinka said.  “It wasn't the first winning goal in my life, but it feels great.”

The Bronchos took a 1-0 lead at the 13:09 mark when Katy Kashwer scored her fifth goal of the season on a pass from Stephanie Fleig, but ECU responded just 15 seconds later to tie it.

The Tigers capitalized on a defensive error to take a 2-1 lead in the 15th minute, but Kashwer scored her second goal of the game late in the half to pull UCO even when she stole the ball from an ECU defender and laced a shot to the back of the net.

Fleig and Dinka had good scoring chances go off the post in the second half as the two teams stayed deadlocked until Dinka's game-winner.

The Bronchos outshot the Tigers 21-10 and Samantha Rusk ended the match with five saves, including two one-on-one stops.  Jordan Hutchison played well in the midfield and keyed UCO's second-half defensive effort.

The Bronchos host Northeastern State on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Tom Thompson Field.
