Bronchos Take Two

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (Sept. 4) -- Kristen Wilson collected 28 kills to lead Central Oklahoma to a pair of four-set wins on the first day of the Midwestern State Invitational here Friday.

The Bronchos disposed of Northwood 18-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-19 in their opening match and then came back to take out Southwest Baptist 25-21, 19-25, 25-16, 25-19.  UCO, now 4-2 on the young season, returns Saturday to face Drury at 11:30 a.m. and No. 4-ranked Emporia State at 2 p.m.  Click here for the live stats of UCO's Saturday matches.

Wilson had 10 kills in the opening-day win over Northwood and added 18 in the SBU victory to pace a balanced UCO attack.  Zuela Adom had 21 kills in the two matches and Jessica Legako 18.

"We played pretty well and picked up a couple of good wins," UCO coach Jeff Boyland said.  "The team is working hard to get better every time we take the floor and we've made a lot of progress since last week."

Adom delivered a match-high 15 kills and 11 digs in the win over Northwood, while Legako hit a sizzling .550 with 12 kills and just one error in 20 attacks in addition to blocking four shots.  Wilson had 10 kills and 21 digs in the match, with Meaghan Wedberg notching 38 assists and 10 digs.

Wilson came back with 18 kills, 14 digs and four blocks against SBU as the junior outside hitter continued her early-season surge.  Adom and Legako had six kills apiece, with Carly LeMay contributing five kills and four blocks and Wedberg 34 assists, five serivce aces and four kills.
