DALLAS (July 30) -- Central Oklahoma was tabbed for a seventh-place finish in the preseason Lone Star Conference volleyball poll that was announced here Thursday during the league's annual fall media day.
Three-time defending champion West Texas A&M was the runaway leader in balloting of head coaches, sports information directors and various media representatives, collecting 31 first-place votes and finishing with 524 points.
Abilene Christian had 478 points to come in second, followed by Tarleton State, Midwestern State, Texas Woman's, Angelo State, UCO, Texas A&M-Commerce, Southeastern Oklahoma, Cameron, Texas A&M-Kingsville, East Central, Southwestern Oklahoma and Eastern New Mexico.
The Bronchos finished with 314 points in the poll.
UCO, under the direction of seventh-year head coach Jeff Boyland, begins preseason drills on Aug. 10. The Bronchos will hold their annual Bronze-Blue intrasquad match on Aug. 22 and open the season Aug. 27 at St. Mary's.
