ADA, Okla. (Oct. 16) -- Katy Kashwer scored two goals to lead a Central Oklahoma onslaught that carried the Bronchos to a 6-0 Lone Star Conference romp over East Central here Friday afternoon.
The Bronchos took a 2-0 halftime lead and then poured it on in the final 45 minutes in racing past the Tigers to improve to 11-5-1 on the year and 5-2 in the league. UCO held a 21-4 advantage in shots in winning for the 11th time in 13 outings.
"We did a great job of taking advantage of our scoring opportunities and that's somethhing we hadn't done very well lately," UCO coach Mike Cook said. "It was a good road win for us coming off a disappointing loss."
The Bronchos, who dropped a 4-2 decision to Abilene Christian at home last Sunday, went ahead just 13:59 into the contest when Katelyn Cropp scored off an assist from Lizzie Merritt. Kashwer made it a 2-0 halftime lead in the 40th minute when she knocked in a cross from Beth Helm.
UCO broke the game open with four second-half scores, starting with Brittni Walker's team-leading eight goal in the 52nd minute off a Dominique Dinka cross. Kasher got her second score of the game 16 minutes later with her seventh goal of the season and the Bronchos got scores from Adriene Lents and Helm in the final 11 minutes to cap off the rout.
Megan Riley and Samantha Rusk shared time in goal to register the shutout for UCO.
The Bronchos don't return to action until hosting Midwestern State on Oct. 25.
