ABILENE Texas (Oct. 17) --
Central Oklahoma failed to capitalize on several first-half scoring chances and Abilene Christian took advantage with an early second-half score to hand the Bronchos a stunning 1-0 Lone Star Conference setback here Friday.

It was the second straight league loss for the Bronchos, who hadn't dropped a regular-season LSC game since 2004 before falling to West Texas A&M last Sunday.

UCO, which fell to 9-4-2 on the year and 3-2 in the conference, missed five shots in the first 10 minutes of the game and 15 in the opening half as ACU's goalkeeper repeatedly denied the Bronchos.

The Wildcats broke the scoreless tie in the 52nd minute and held on the rest of the way.

"We had plenty of chances and just couldn't get the ball in the net," said UCO coach Mike Cook, whose team goes to Angeo State Sunday afternoon for another leage contest.  "It's a disappointing loss, but we just have to put it behind us and get ready for Sunday."
