UCO Hits The Road For Two Non-Conference Games

Central Oklahoma Plays At Oklahoma Baptist, Midwestern State This Weekend

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Central Oklahoma makes its first road trip of the season this weekend when the Bronchos visit Oklahoma Baptist Friday night. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.

UCO is 0-2 on the young season after dropping the first two home contests of the year this past weekend in Edmond. The Bronchos lost 2-1 to No. 15 Minnesota State and 2-0 to Augustana.

Central will also travel to Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Texas on Sunday for another non-conference road game.

Oklahoma Baptist (0-2) started the season with a 5-0 loss to Midwestern State. The Bison played UT Dallas Wednesday night and lost 4-0.

Central recorded just one goal in the first two games of the season and it came from sophomore defender Sophia Gaskins, who scored off a corner kick from Sheridan Ross.

The Bronchos took 31 total shots in those two games, putting 12 on goal. UCO's defense limited opponents to 19 total shots in the first two games with just eight on target.

Maddie Ortwein has played the full 180 minutes in goal through the first week of the season. The sophomore goalkeeper has four saves and four goals allowed.

UCO returns home next week and will have a home-away split for its final two non-conference games of the season. The Bronchos host Southern Nazarene on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. and will travel west to Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 2 p.m.
