Bronchos Drop Road Game In Missouri

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Central Oklahoma's unbeaten start in MIAA play came to an end Friday night when the Bronchos lost 2-0 at Central Missouri.

The Bronchos are now 6-4-2 overall on the season and have a 3-1-2 record in the MIAA. UCM, which is receiving votes in the latest national rankings, is 10-1-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the MIAA.

"We didn't as many chances as we're used to and just couldn't get in a rhythm on offense," UCO head women's soccer coach Amel Muhamedagic said. "We knew this was going to be a tough one and we needed to play better to have a chance."

Central Missouri outshot Central Oklahoma 11-1 in the first half but it was still scoreless after 45 minutes. Maddie Ortwein made five saves in the first half.

But UCM found the back of the net in the 48th minute and again in the 56th minute. The quick rush made it 2-0 and that was more than enough for the host Jennies to put away the Bronchos.

UCO outshot Central Missouri 12-6 in the second half but couldn't get its chances to find the back of the net.

Ortwein finished the game with six saves to help the Bronchos. Greta Likens took a career-high six shots and put two on target. Seven other Bronchos took one shot in the match.

Central Oklahoma continues a weekend away from home with a Sunday MIAA match at Missouri Southern in Joplin. The Bronchos play two on the road again next week at Washburn and Newman.
