UCO Heads To Dallas For DBU Classic

Central Oklahoma Plays 54 Holes In Two Days At Dallas Athletic Club

DALLAS – Central Oklahoma is back on the course Monday morning with the DBU Classic at Dallas Athletic Club.

Dallas Baptist is hosting the two-day, 54-hole event featuring 14 programs. The Patriots have won four Division II national titles (2021, 2023, 2025, 2026). The DBU Classic includes nine teams ranked in the latest Top 25 coaches' poll and three more that are receiving votes including Central Oklahoma.

UCO is coming off a third-place finish at the MIAA Preview in Andover, Kansas last week. The Bronchos recorded an even-par 284 in the second round to tie the school record for lowest single round. After a 12-over 296 on the first day, Central's 36-hole 580 is the second-best mark in program history.

Senior Scarlet Sturch led the Bronchos in the season-opening tournament last week. The Durant, Oklahoma native finished sixth. Her 36-hole 143 tied UCO's 10th-best two-round score. Sturch started her fourth year at Central with a 1-over 72 and wrapped up the tournament with an even-par 71 in the second round.

Junior transfer Ivanna Gerez landed a 10th-place finish in her first career tournament at UCO. The Guanajuato, Mexico native and Redlands Community College transfer started her debut with a 7-over 78 but rebounded with a 4-under 67 in the second round. That mark is tied for third best in program history.

Another junior and third-year Broncho Layne Ailshie finished 15th last week with a 146. She started the season with a 5-over 76 before shooting 1-under on the second day. Redshirt freshman Reagan Plank also tied for 15th last week. She posted the same two scores as Ailshie but reversed the order, shooting the 1-under-par 70 on the first day before a 5-over 76 on day two.

Senior Estela Castillo also competed in Kansas last week and posted a 160 (78-82). The Palma, Spain native ranks in the Top 10 in UCO history for career rounds played and career scoring average (76.5).

UCO is playing five tournaments in five weeks this fall. The DBU Classic is the second in that string of activity. The Bronchos are hosting the annual Grace Shin Invitational Oct. 5-6 at Golf Club of Edmond. Central will also play in Kearney, Nebraska and Wichita Falls, Texas the following two weeks in October.
