Central Tabbed Fifth In MIAA Preseason Poll

Bronchos Open Season Next Friday In Edmond

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma was picked fifth in the MIAA Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league announced Wednesday.

Washburn was picked was narrowly picked first with seven first-place votes and defending champion Pittsburg State was second with six first-place votes. Central Missouri and Missouri Western were third and fourth in front of the Bronchos.

UCO went 9-6-5 overall and 6-3-3 in league play to finish sixth in the standings last season before winning a pair of matches in the MIAA Women's Soccer Championship to reach the final. The Bronchos dropped that match with MWSU, 2-1, in overtime.

Central Oklahoma returns 15 letter winners from last season, including 11 with starting experience. A trio of players on this season's squad have previously earned All-MIAA honors with the Bronchos and two have been named to All-Region.

Graduate student and veteran leader Megan Wilson and junior leader Caleah Carter were both named All-MIAA and All-Region last season. Senior leader Emma Nicholas earned two All-MIAA accolades in her first two seasons in the program.

Central Oklahoma opens the 2026 season with a pair of non-conference home games next weekend. The Bronchos host No. 15 Minnesota State on Friday, Aug. 28 and Augustana on Sunday, Aug. 30. UCO has a third non-conference home match on Sept. 9 against Southern Nazarene and begins MIAA play Sept. 18 at Missouri Western.
