EDMOND – Central Oklahoma's two Rylees garnered All-Central Region recognition from the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Monday, with Rylee Lemos named Player of the Year and a a First Team selection while Rylee Anglen was a Second Team pick.
That senior duo has led the Bronchos to a 45-14 record and No. 11 national ranking heading into this week's Central Super Regional against No. 5 Missouri Southern in Joplin, Missouri.
Lemos moves on to the All-America ballot along with First Team members from the other seven regions, with those teams to be announced next week. The Central Region is comprised of schools from the MIAA, Great American Conference and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. D2CCA teams are voted on by sports information directors of member schools.
It's the third straight year for Lemos to earn D2CCA First Team All-Central Region honors, making her just the fourth three-time All-Region player in program history. She was a Second Team D2CCA All-American last season.
The senior from South Coffeyville, Oklahoma is having a sensational final season in capping off a record-setting career with the Bronchos.
Lemos has a .405 average with 17 doubles, 14 home runs, seven triples and 71 runs batted in. She leads the team in at bats (190), runs (64), hits (77), RBI and on base percentage (.498) while sharing the lead in slugging percentage (.789).
Named both MIAA Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year two weeks ago, Lemos holds school career records for runs (253) and triples (24) while ranking in the top 10 in nine other categories. She was also named First Team All-Region by the NFCA last week.
Anglen is also enjoying a stellar final campaign with the Bronchos as perhaps the best defensive infielder in Division II. The senior second baseman from Skiatook, Oklahoma owns incredible range in the field and has made just two errors in 189 fielding chances. She was a First Team All-MIAA selection as well as making the conference Gold Glove Team for the second straight year.
Anglen helps fuel UCO's potent offense with a .324 average to go along with a team-high 33 walks, 52 runs scored, three doubles, two triples, 15 RBI, seven sacrifice bunts and 13 stolen bases.
