Matt Mossman Promoted To Associate Head Coach

Central Oklahoma Basketball Assistant Enters Sixth Year With Program

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma Vice President for Athletics Stan Wagnon announced Monday men's basketball coach Matt Mossman has been promoted to Associate Head Men's Basketball Coach.

"Loyalty and dependability are seemingly becoming rare traits in today's world, and Matt stands as a shining example of both," Wagnon said. "We are fortunate to have Matt on our bench, and this change in title better reflects his impact on our players and program, as well as the role he's grown into on our staff."

"Coach Mossman has served several roles very well for many years for our program," UCO head men's basketball coach Bob Hoffman said. "No one deserves this more than Matt. He has been faithful."

Mossman joined the UCO staff in 2021-22 and guided the Bronchos to an MIAA regular season title in his first season with the program. UCO went to the national tournament that year as well. The Bronchos are 116-53 since Mossman joined the staff.

Central Oklahoma has made two national tournament appearances during Mossman's time on the bench. The 2021-22 squad in his first season went 24-7 and the following year, the Bronchos were 26-6.

UCO has twice played for the MIAA Basketball Championship in Kansas City during Mossman's time. The 2022-23 team reached the final as did the 2024-25 squad.

Mossman is from Norman, Oklahoma and coached at the University of Oklahoma and Randall University in Moore prior to joining the staff at Central Oklahoma.

UCO opens the 2026-27 season Oct. 30 in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. The Bronchos are competing in the D2CCA Tipoff Classic. Central will play Northern Michigan, West Texas A&M, and Harding in the three-day event. The home opener for the Bronchos is the following week, Nov. 9, against Texas A&M Texarkana.
