Matthew Willenborg Earns All-Region Honor

Central Oklahoma Junior Forward Named D2CCA Second Team All-Region

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma junior forward Matthew Willenborg was named Second Team All-Region by the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association, it was announced Thursday.
 
Willenborg is one of four selections from the MIAA. The Central Region is made up of teams from the Northern Sun, the Great American Conference, and the MIAA.
 
The junior forward from Norman, Oklahoma is the 18th player to earn All-Region honors for Central Oklahoma and the first since Jaden Wells in 2023-24. Eight players were named All-Region twice.
 
Willenborg led Central Oklahoma to a 17-16 season and the No. 9 seed in the MIAA Basketball Championship. The Bronchos advanced to the quarterfinals of the postseason tournament before falling to eventual champion Washburn.
 
In 33 games this season, Willenborg averaged 20.4 points per game, 9.2 rebounds per game, and 3.0 blocks per game. He led not only UCO but the MIAA too in rebounding and blocked shots. Only MIAA and Central Region Player of the Year Lazerek Houston (675) scored more points than Willenborg (673) this season.
 
Willenborg etched his named in the UCO record book during the 2025-26 season. His 673 points rank seventh on Central's all-time single season list. His 245 field goals made also rank seventh and his 505 field goal attempts are the fifth most in any season. Willenborg's 305 total rebounds also rank ninth in school history.
 
The junior made his biggest impact as a rim protector this season – and over the course of the past three years. Willenborg blocked 99 shots this season, the second most of any player in school history. He added to his career total and his 169 career blocked shots are a UCO school record.
